Primary Mental Maths Competition 2023

Primary Mental Maths Competition 2023

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, in collaboration with Hodder Education and Republic Bank Barbados, is pleased to inform you that its annual Primary Mental Maths Competition (PMMC) 2023 will be held this term, after a three-year break due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The Competition runs from Tuesday 31 October to Friday 24 November 2023.

This exciting contest provides a forum for Class 4 students to display their mental maths competence in a competitive environment. PMMC 2023 aims to improve students’ ability to reason logically, compute quickly and to develop aptitudes such as memory, concentration, and problem solving. It is hoped that students will consolidate their knowledge of selected topics in the mathematics syllabus. PMMC is much more than just a competition. It provides opportunities for participants to learn new thinking strategies.

Competition sponsors, Hodder Education and Republic Bank Barbados will award special books prizes and trophies to all finalists and their schools and monetary gifts respectively. Participatory tokens will also be given to other participants. The winning school will take home the Ministry of Education coveted Primary Mental Maths Competition Challenge Shield.
