2022 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme

The Embassy of Japan in Barbados is pleased to announce that it is now open for applications to the 2022 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme.

Aiming primarily to enhance internationalisation in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between the people of Japan and other countries, the JET programme invites Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) to be involved in English language education at Japan’s boards of education, elementary schools, junior high schools, and senior high schools. The Programme has gained high acclaim both domestically and overseas since its creation in 1987, and it is one of the world’s largest international exchange programmes.

In addition to being a responsible individual who is proficient in the English language, prospective ALTs must be Barbadian nationals in possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Completed applications must be submitted by hand to the Embassy of Japan by 1:00 PM on 2nd December 2021 The application form and general information are available on the Embassy’s website at
